Lisa Holden Rovers, MSc, CHRP
Lisa founded Workplace Matters in 2005 based on a vision of “every employed person is happy in their work environment, fulfilled by their work and contributing to something they believe in”. As the Founding Principal, she works with organizations to grow great leaders, engage employees and help people perform their best at work.
With over twenty years of work and volunteer experience, Lisa has built a strong reputation in the Calgary community as someone who can quickly assess the situation, envision the big picture and roll-up her sleeves to ensure successful implementation of innovative and practical solutions. Her experience encompasses human resources, leadership development and workplace effectiveness.
Lisa has a master's degree in Training and Performance Improvement and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Business Management. She also holds certificates in Human Resources Management and Corporate Coaching.
Before founding Workplace Matters, Lisa worked in human resources in manufacturing, industrial service and sales, education and employment services. She has served on the Boards of Volunteer Calgary, the Human Resources Institute of Alberta, the Human Resources Association of Calgary and the Calgary Winter Festival. Lisa’s articles and quotes have been featured in a variety of publications including the HRIA Network, Labour Market News, Reader’s Digest, Calgary Inc. and Alberta Venture.

Michael Rovers, CET
Michael Rovers is a Certified Engineering Technologist and Founding Principal of Workplace Matters. Michael provides business process improvement and Quality Management solutions to organizations in need of structured systems.
With twenty years experience working in technical organizations he has applied Quality Management principles to assess and continually improve processes in a variety of environments. He has worked in high tech environments including military application, oil and gas, software and telecommunications and also has experience in manufacturing environments.
His strong communication skills are coupled with an ability to determine a clear vision of what the client really needs. This is accomplished through active participation from all involved, a drive for continuous improvement, and a strong belief in empowering people through knowledge transfer. Michael’s expertise is in knowing how to write processes that work for humans – they are logical, flexible and intuitive. The effect of this approach results in the process improvements becoming the new standard for the organization to follow.
Michael has a Bachelors degree in Applied Information Systems, a Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology and is certified as an ISO Internal Auditor. He is enrolled to become an ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor.
His philosophy works for every organization: Keep it simple and straight-forward. Do what works for the environment. Maintain flexibilty & adaptability. Keep the processes logical and intuitive. And finally, “Say it, do it, prove it”.

Heather Lussier, BA
Heather Lussier is an Associate Consultant with Workplace Matters. Heather began her career in human resources over 15 years ago where she specialized in training and development in the oil and gas sector and provided advisory support on employment related issues. She joined Workplace Matters in 2006 and has supported initiatives such as the development of leadership training modules and policy writing..
Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology as well as a Human Resources Certificate from the University of Calgary. She brings with her a broad range of Human Resources experience in both Domestic and International Business environments.
Heather has lived overseas where she enjoyed showcasing Alberta from her personal viewpoint through the lens of a camera. Many of the photos on our website are compliments of Heather.

Bea Rosenhauch, BSc
Bea Rosenhauch is an Associate Consultant with a strong background in managing the HR systems and processes for recruitment, benefits, performance management and training. She is experienced in conducting policy research and compensation surveys and reviews. Her industry experience includes Oil and Gas, scientific research, education and natural cosmetics.
Bea holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Waterloo and is completing a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Calgary. She enjoys creative problem-solving and tackling complex projects.

Gillian Rasmussen, BA
Gillian Rasmussen is an Associate Consultant at Workplace Matters where she shares her expertise with clients on job design, classification systems, salary administration and general human resources management.
Gillian began her career has a Human Resource Generalist 10 years ago. She has experience in both public and private organizations classifying positions, implementing new classification systems and coaching and training managers and employees on these new systems, as well as writing competency based job descriptions.
Gillian holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary, where she focused her course work on learning theory and organizational psychology. Gillian has held leadership roles in several not-for-profit organizations working with women and youth. Gillian is a busy mother herself and understands the special challenges that women face in the workplace with balancing work and life priorities.
